Nanodays 2009 - Highlights

The Institute for Functional Nanomaterials (IFN) and the NASA Center for Advanced Nanoscale Material (CaNM) join over 200 Sites Nationwide in NanoDays The Nation’s Largest Public Outreach Effort in Nanoscale Informal Science Education. This year the IFN and CaNM offered a Nanoscience Exposition consisting of hands-on interactive activities and demonstrations on April 3 and 4, 2009 at Plaza Las Americas, the largest mall in Latin America and the 15th largest mall in the US. High school students from public high schools, Gabriela Mistral, University Gardens and UHS, SAn Juan; and Trina Padilla and Voc. Antonio Luchetti, Arecibo, and undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Puerto Rico presented key concepts in Nanoscience and Technology to the participants in an engaging and fun atmosphere. They also presented cutting edge results developed by research scientist at the University of Puerto Rico System.  This important outreach event was also done in collabaration with NASA Space Grant and ISMuL, UPR-Arecibo.  During this event more than 3000 people were reached.
